I live in a registered International Dark Sky community and was so grateful to escape 15 min city life. However everyone here has Starlink now (what a hypocrisy) as there are no connection to the outside world alternatives available. I long for returning to the days of landlines and no internet but I would have no ability to generate income (no jobs in rural America left) or communicate with family (a devoted letter writer but the logistics in an emergency are pretty obvious) much less attend to the challenges of daily living (eg need to find a plumber in absence of a phone book or neighbor within walking distance). How does one logistically function sans tech when the entire nation and all infrastructure is hooked into the Cloud? I'm not being coy- Id love to completely unplug and survive. Any advice??

When satellites collide they are going pretty fast. Does that mean the "blow-up" and disintegrate into a million pieces? (I think it has only happened a couple of times.) One site says there are 20,000 pieces of debris large enough to be tracked. Of course even a small collision may put a satellite out of commission, without blowing it up.
